Will my images lose quality after compression?
We use a compression algorithm that reduces file size while maintaining high image quality. So changes are you won't notice any difference between the original and the compressed image.

Have a look at our demo images and see for yourself.

In the Advanced Options you can select the compression level (Max).
  • If you set it High (best quality) you won't notice any difference in quality.
  • If you set it to Max (smallest size), you will get a big size reduction and some noticable quality loss.
So it is up to your preference for quality vs file size.

Why can't I compress TIFF, BMP, SVG, and EPS images?
Some image types are not suitable for compression. Here's why:
  • TIFF (Tagged Image File Format): This is an uncompressed format designed for professional photography and printing. It's not suitable for web use. Convert to JPG or PNG first for best web compression results.
  • BMP (Bitmap): This is an old, uncompressed format not often used anymore. Convert your .bpm images to JPG or PNG. This will already result in smaller image files.
  • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics): This type of image doesn't work by storing pixels. It works by storing paths and shapes. So they usually already are compact. You can inspect them using a text editor.
  • EPS (Encapsulated PostScript): This is a vector format used primarily for print and professional design software. It's not suitable for web use. Convert to JPG or PNG for web, or keep as EPS for print.
Why should I compress my images?
Compressing images has many benefits:
  • Shorter website loading times: Smaller images load faster via the internet, so you website pages load faster This is good for user experieunce and your ranking in search engines like Google, Yandex and Bing.
  • Less storage space used: If you store images on your computer of phone, less space will be required and you can store more images. The same applies if you store your images in the cloud (e.g. in Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox). If you pay for cloud storage, this may save you money.
  • Better email delivery: Compressed images are easier to send via email.
  • Less data usage: As your images are smaller, loading them over the internet will require less data. If you pay per GB of data, this will save you money.
  • Better for the environment: Smaller images require less energy to process, render, and transmit over the internet. Also fewer storage devices will be manufactured if all images were size optimized.
